Adamson stays in Final Four hunt with win over NU; La Salle downs FEU to keep semis bonus bid alive

Adamson University pulled off an upset against National University, 68-62, on Wednesday at the Mall of Asia Arena to keep its UAAP Season 86 Final Four bid alive.

Didat Hanapi had 13 points, while Matthew Montebon and Cedrick Manzano had 12 points apiece as the Soaring Falcons improved to 6-7.

The win spoiled Kean Baclaan's 24-point output for the Bulldogs as they went down to 10-3.

Earlier, De La Salle University took down Far Eastern University, 80-70, to stay in the hunt for a twice-to-beat advantage heading into the Final Four.

Raven Cortez had 16 points, while Mark Nonoy had 15 points for the Green Archers who improved to 10-3 also.

Jorick Bautista had 17 points for the Tamaraws as they slipped to 3-10.

Meanwhile, the University of the Philippines also boosted their semis bonus bid after defeating University of Santo Tomas, 86-61, and improving to 11-2 to keep their hold of the top spot.

Ateneo de Manila University, on the other hand, also kept their Final Four hopes alive as they ousted University of the East, 80-74. The Blue Eagles went up to 7-6, while the Red Warriors have been officially eliminated from Final Four contention.

The upcoming weekend games will be crucial for the placements for twice-to-beat bonuses and the last Final Four slot.

Ateneo and La Salle will go head-to-head at 6 p.m. at the Smart Araneta Coliseum on Saturday, while also-ran teams FEU and UST will hope for one last win as they face each other at 2 p.m.

Adamson and UE will play on Sunday afternoon at the Mall of Asia Arena, followed by UP going against NU.
