PBA: Venky Jois drops 43 as NorthPort downs Terrafirma

Reinforcement Venky Jois dropped 43 points as the NorthPort Batang Pier took down Terrafirma Dyip, 108-103 on Friday in the PBA 48th Season Commissioner's Cup at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Jois sank 18 of his 26 2-pt field goals en route to his explosive debut.

The Dyip reclaimed the lead, 98-97, with less than five minutes in the final frame before NorthPort made a 6-0 run to get the 103-98 lead before eventually taking the win.

Jois also had 10 rebounds, three assists, three steals, and one block for the Batang Pier, while Arvin Tolentino led the locals with 16 points.

The game also saw the debut of former NCAA standouts in Bonnie Tan's squad with his former Letran Knights Brent Paraiso and Fran Yu chipping in five points apiece, while former Arellano University star Cade Flores had nine points and 12 rebounds. Jose Rizal University's John Amores had three points.

De Thaey had 20 points and seven boards for Terrafirma, while Juami Tiongson had 20 points.
