Clippers roll to easy win over Spurs, Victor Wembanyama

Kawhi Leonard scored 21 points in 28 minutes as the Los Angeles Clippers rolled to a 123-83 victory over the visiting San Antonio Spurs in the first road game for rookie sensation Victor Wembanyama.

Paul George and Russell Westbrook each scored 19 points for the Clippers, who improved to 2-0 at home and rebounded from a disappointing two-point defeat on the road against the Utah Jazz on Friday.

Bones Hyland scored 18 points and Ivica Zubac had 16 points on 6-of-7 shooting from the field for Los Angeles. Zubac and Westbrook each had eight rebounds as the Clippers played the first contest in a stretch of three games in four days, with the first meeting against the Los Angeles Lakers on Wednesday.

Devin Vassell scored just two of his 14 points in the second half and Cedi Osman added 12 for the Spurs, who went 1-1 at home before playing on an opponent's court for the first time this season. Wembanyama, the 7-foot-4 No. 1 overall selection in this year's draft, scored 11 points on 4-of-10 shooting.

Wembanyama and the Spurs now have a pair of road matchups awaiting against Kevin Durant and the Phoenix Suns this week.

The Clippers started fast, taking a 14-point lead in the first quarter and holding a 23-17 advantage at the end of the opening period. Los Angeles made it 56-37 at halftime on 48.9 percent shooting as Leonard and George combined for 25 points.

It failed to get any better for the Spurs in the second half as they trailed by as many as 34 points in the third quarter and never threatened in the fourth. The Clippers passed the 100-point mark on a Norman Powell 3-pointer with 7:31 remaining for a 102-75 lead.

One game after getting outrebounded by nine against the Jazz, the Clippers held a 48-37 rebounding advantage on the Spurs. Los Angeles also forced 25 turnovers, turning them into 34 points.
