Kevin Quiambao registers triple-double as La Salle downs NU


Kevin Quiambao became the first player to register a triple-double in five years as he led De La Salle University past National University, 88-78, on Saturday in UAAP Season 86 at the Mall of Asia Arena.

Quiambao stuffed the stat sheet with 17 points, 14 assists, and 11 rebounds, along with four steals as the Green Archers improved to 6-3.

Prior to the La Salle star's triple-double, CJ Cansino was the last player to achieve the feat with 20 points, 14 rebounds, and 10 assists for the University of Santo Tomas.

Jonnel Policarpio had 15 points, while Evan Nelle and Mark Nonoy added 14 and 10 points, respectively, for the Taft-based squad's third straight win. NU, meanwhile, dropped to 7-2.

Earlier, University of the East (3-6) ended a five-game skid at the expense of the University of Santo Tomas (1-8), 86-73.

UAAP action continues on Sunday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum with Adamson University taking on Far Eastern University at 2 pm and University of the Philippines going against Ateneo de Manila University at 6 pm.
