Jack Animam flirts with double-double in Chinese league debut

Jack Animam left a great impression in her debut in the Women's Chinese Basketball Association (WCBA) as the Gilas Pilipinas Women stalwart almost finished with a double-double for Wuhan Shengfan on Tuesday.

The 6-foot-5 bruiser put together 10 points and nine rebounds alongside one assist and three steals in the losing effort as Wuhan fell to Inner Mongolia Nongxin, 61-74, on Tuesday.

Wuhan was off to a hot start, leading Inner Mongolia by nine, 24-25, at the end of the opening quarter before a third quarter surge saw the opposing team build a 55-45 cushion before the fourth.

Despite a huge outing from Animam, Wuhan could not recover from that hole to succumb to Inner Mongolia.

Yuan Li led Inner Mongolia with a double-double performance of 15 points and 11 rebounds alongside six assists and one steal while Zhenqi Pan
poured in 15 markers as well laced with six boards.

Animam, the first Filipina player to see action in the Chinese league, and Wuhan will look to bounce back when they take on Fujian on Friday.
