La Salle downs Adamson for back-to-back wins; NU bounces back at UST's expense


De La Salle University scored back-to-back wins after taking down Adamson University, 71-58, on Wednesday in UAAP Season 86 at the Mall of Asia Arena.

After trailing 33-32 at the end of the first half, the Green Archers pulled away in the third period and outscored the Soaring Falcons, 29-11, giving the Taft-based squad control of the game until the final buzzer.

Kevin Quiambao posted a double-double of 17 points and 10 rebounds with six assists and a steal, while Evan Nelle also had 12 points and 15 rebounds. Mike Phillips, meanwhile, registered 14 points and nine boards as the Archers improved to 3-1.

Jhon Arthur Calisay had 12 points, while Matt Erolon had 10 points as Adamson dropped to 2-2.

Earlier, National University bounced back from its loss against University of the Philippines and dismantled the University of Santo Tomas, 87-69.

Mike Malonzo had 14 points while Jolo Manansala had 13 points as the Bulldogs improved to 3-1.

UP holds the top spot in the standings with 4-0, followed by La Salle and NU at 3-1. Ateneo and University of the East are at 2-2, while both Far Eastern University and UST remain winless.

UAAP action will be back on Saturday afternoon when Ateneo de Manila University takes on Far Eastern University, while UP will go against UST at the Mall of Asia Arena.
