Gilas Women open campaign with 24-point win against Kazakhstan

Gilas Pilipinas Women opened their campaign in the 19th Asian Games with a rout of Kazakhstan, 83-59, on Wednesday in Hangzhou, China.

Janine Pontejos posted 21 points as she waxed hot and drilled seven triples. Khate Castillo added 15 points for the nationals' first win in the Asiad.

Tamara Kuzmina led the Kazakhs with 12 points.

Gilas Women will next face Hong Kong on Friday.
