Gilas Pilipinas' RR Pogoy withdraws from Asian Games due to health issues
RR Pogoy has formally begged off from the Asian Games due to health issues, Gilas Pilipinas head coach Tim Cone announced in a press conference on Tuesday at the PBA Office.
Cone, though, opted not to divulge the health condition of Pogoy, who played a significant role in Gilas Pilipinas' campaign at the 2023 FIBA World Cup recently held here.
Pogoy's lack of availability came as the national team announced a revamped pool for the Asiad tournament following doubts about the eligibility of Calvin Abueva, Terrence Romeo, Jason Perkins, and Mo Tautuaa, who were not part of a recently-submitted 37-man pool sent to the Asian Games organizers.
Cone added that Stanley Pringle was supposed to replace Pogoy, the TNT guard, in the lineup. However, the Ginebra gunner also wasn't listed in the 37-man pool released by SBP.

"Stanley was originally not part of the original 12. He was on the list of 60 so we felt that he could be our replacement. In fact when Roger was out, Stanley was the one to replace him," Cone shared.
"But as it turns out he wasn't on the list also so we couldn't use him as well."
