Hard-hitting Filipino strawweight Lito Adiwang is raring to showcase his striking prowess when he takes on Indonesia’s Adrian Mattheis on the undercard of ONE Friday Fights 34 on Friday, September 22 at Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.
Adiwang, 13-5 as a professional mixed martial artist, has been away from for more than a year after he suffered a knee injury during his last outing at ONE: X in March 2022. Now fully recovered, Adiwang says he wants to prove that he is still a dangerous fighter.
“He is an aggressive and explosive fighter. Let us see who connects. This is going to be a good fight, yes, we are both [strikers] but there are levels in this game. Let us see who is better in striking and more explosive,” Adiwang said.
Adiwang was one of several fighters who left Team Lakay earlier this year, including former world champions Eduard Folayang, Joshua Pacio, Kevin Belingon, and Honorio Banario. Though he has been on a hiatus, the Filipino striker says he is out to prove that he remains as one of the best.
“I just want to show and let them know that I am still here. I was away for 18 months but I am still here. The target is to become the champion in my division and put the division notice that I am really back,” Adiwang stated.
