Germany, Serbia to battle for World Cup trophy

The stage is set for the 2023 FIBA World Cup finals!

Serbia and Germany will battle for the Naismith Trophy when they face in the World Cup finals on Sunday at the Mall of Asia Arena.

World no. 6 Serbia took down Canada, 95-86, in the semis for another finals appearance in the World Cup.

Serbia, who last appeared in the championship round in 2014, almost swept its games in the tournament but fell to Italy, 78-76, in the second round.

World no. 11 Germany, meanwhile, stunned world no. 2 Team USA, 113-111, to advance to the finals for the first time.

The Germans, who played in Okinawa for their group stage matches, are currently at 7-0 in the tourney and need just one more to claim the Naismith Trophy.

With their semifinals losses, Canada and the United States will face each other in the battle for third place on Sunday as well.

On Saturday, Italy and Slovenia will battle for the seventh place, while Lithuania and Latvia will go head-to-head for the fifth place.
