Italy's Simone Fontecchio misses game vs. Latvia due to sickness, says coach

Simone Fontecchio was a DNP in Italy's classification round loss against Latvia, 87-82, on Thursday.

Italy coach Gianmarco Pozzecco said Fontecchio did not play due to sickness.

"Simone was sick. He was really sick," Pozzecco said in a press conference.

"He really wants to play but he couldn't. To the end, the doctor decided that he [will] not able to play at all."

In the tournament, Fontecchio is posting averages of 18.3 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 1.7 assists.

Italy will play Slovenia in the battle for 7th on Saturday.
