USA's Steve Kerr still 'liked' experience from Lithuania loss

It was not the result that they would have wanted, but USA head coach Steve Kerr said he was happy with the experience the team had from their 110-104 loss to Lithuania on Sunday.

In a press conference, Kerr said the game against Lithuania was an example of how competitive the other World Cup teams are.

"I liked the game. I liked what happened tonight," Kerr said. "This happened so quickly, bringing together a team, you practice for a few weeks and you play for the gold medal, it happened quickly."

Citing the different of FIBA from the NBA, Kerr said they have to experience the talent other World Cup teams have, and even described that Lithuania as 'a brilliant team.'

"I hate losing. I probably won't sleep much tonight, but for us to get better, we needed to feel this," he said, adding that they need to start their next game the way they started in the second quarter earlier where they had a 15-2 run.

"I'm hoping that this is a lesson and we get better from this."

USA will face Italy on Tuesday in the quarterfinals.
