Luka Doncic, Slovenia advance to FIBA World Cup quarterfinals in Manila
Luka Doncic and the Slovenia men's basketball team will be heading to the Philippines soon as they booked slots for the 2023 FIBA World Cup quarterfinals to be played here in Manila.
In Okinawa, Slovenia dispatched Australia, 91-80, to notch their fourth win in the tournament and assured its squad of a slot in the final phase.
Doncic paced Slovenia with 19 points, while Mike Tobey and Gregor Hrovat chipped in 18 and 10 points, respectively.
Josh Giddey led Australia with 25 points while Patty Mills added 17 points.
Earlier, Germany beat Georgia, 100-73, to get also their fourth win.
Both teams are at 4-0, making them the top two teams from Group K which will advance to the final phase.
The two teams will still face each other on Sunday before they head to the country and face the top two teams from Indonesia in the quarters.
Meanwhile, in other World Cup games in Jakarta, Latvia completed an upset against defending champions Spain, 74-69, while Brazil won against Canada, 69-65.
