Rondae Hollis-Jefferson honored to hear 'Kobe' chants for him at FIBA World Cup
Rondae Hollis-Jefferson himself had a Kobe Bryant-esque performance for Jordan in the 2023 FIBA World Cup in Manila.
After posting 24 points against Greece, the former PBA Best Import on Monday registered 39 points in their 95-87 loss against New Zealand.
RHJ currently holds the top mark for most points made by a player in a single game in this edition of the World Cup.
"I felt great," said Hollis-Jefferson after his high-scoring night, which garnered him chants of 'Kobe'.
Apparently, his neighborhood had residents who played and knew the late basketball great.
"They told me just how his work ethic was as a kid, 11 or 12 years old, he always had a basketball in his hand. He just loves the game so much, he's a student of the game. I just love to hear those stories." he shared.
"It's just an honor."
