Erik Spoelstra back in Manila as part of Team USA
Erik Spoelstra is back in the Philippines!
The Filipino-American Miami Heat head coach was part of Team USA's delegation that arrived on Tuesday morning for the 2023 FIBA World Cup set to be hosted by the Philippines from August 25 to September 3.
The longtime NBA mentor Spoelstra, who was born to an American father and a Filipina mother, will serve as one of USA's assistant coaches alongside Los Angeles Clippers' Tyronn Lue and Gonzaga University's Mark Few. They will give Golden State Warriors and Team USA head coach Steve Kerr assistance as they look to hoist the Naismith Trophy once more.
Aside from World Cup action, Spoelstra will also take part in some activities in the country.
On Wednesday, he will lead an elite basketball clinic with 40 Filipino boys and girls from the high school and college ranks across Metro Manila.
