Team USA arrives in Manila for FIBA World Cup campaign

Team USA has arrived in Manila on Tuesday morning ahead of its looming campaign in the 2023 FIBA World Cup.

The fan-favorite American team of NBA stars landed at the Ninoy Aquino International Terminal 1 with a large delegation.

Team USA is tipped to be led by young and rising stars like Anthony Edwards of the Minnesota Timberwolves, Austin Reaves of the Los Angeles Lakers, and Tyrese Haliburton of the Indiana Pacers with Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr at the helm.

Team USA will also have Filipino-American tactician Erik Spoelstra of the Miami Heat serving as one of the deputies.

The USA is coming off its worst finish in the FIBA World Cup in 2019, where it settled for a seventh place finish. USA, the winningest team in the quadrennial event, was back-to-back champion in 2010 and 2014.

USA is in Group C alongside Jordan, Greece, and New Zealand. The five-time gold medalist will open its campaign on August 26 against the Tall Blacks at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.
