Kaye Pingol propels Uratex Dream past Titans to rule WMovement 3x3 Elite Invitational

Kaye Pingol powered the Uratex Dream past the Titans, 21-14, to rule WMovement’s first 3x3 Elite Invitational Tournament on Sunday.

Despite suffering a left ankle sprain, Pingol posted 15 points for the Uratex Dream.

“Laban lang. 'Yun lang ang nasa isip namin. Kahit natalo kami dun sa huling laro namin sa group stage, alam namin na may pag-asa pa rin kami at kailangan lang bumawi,” said Pingol who was adjudged as the MVP of the tourney.

(Just fight, that's our mindset. Even if we lost to our last group stage match, we know there is still hope and we just need to bounce back.)

Sam Harada had six points for the squad which also had Mikka Cacho and Tina Deacon.

WMovement is looking to put up two more Elite Invitationals later this year to serve as a qualifier for the second staging of the Manila Hustle 3x3 next year.

“Hopefully we can have more teams that can join,” said WMovement co-founder Mariana Lopa.

Uratex Dream, meanwhile, shifts its attention  to the Red Bull Half Court World Final in Serbia this September and Pingol said winning the first WMovement Invitational gave them a boost ahead of the international tourney.

“Mas nadagdagan 'yung kumpiyansa namin pero kailangan pa naming mag-train together lalo,” said Pingol.

(We are now more confident but we still need to train together.)
