Jordan Clarkson confirmed for FIBA World Cup, to join Gilas Pilipinas on August 6
The Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) on Tuesday confirmed that Jordan Clarkson will suit up for Gilas Pilipinas in the 2023 FIBA World Cup here in the Philippines in August.
SBP president Al Panlilio bared the development to GMA Integrated News, saying Clarkson will rejoin Gilas on August 6 in China, where they will participate in a pocket tournament as part of the preparations for the global conclave.
Gilas will go up against Lebanon, Iran, and Senegal during their training camp in China with a month left before they plunge to World Cup action, where they are grouped with Angola, Dominican Republic, and Italy.
In a previous interview, Panlilio said that the Utah Jazz star will join Gilas in late July as they were still finalizing the deal with the NBA star's camp. Now, though, it is confirmed that the 31-year-old NBA guard will definitely bolster the Philippines come the World Cup.
Gilas was coming off a training camp in Europe, where they held a series of friendly games against Estonia, Finland, and Ukraine.
