Playing time remains elusive for Kai Sotto as Magic fall to Knicks in OT
Filipino center Kai Sotto wasn't fielded anew as the Orlando Magic fell to the New York Knicks in overtime, 82-80, in the 2023 NBA Summer League on Thursday morning (Manila time) at the Thomas and Mack Center in Las Vegas.
Sotto was listed as DNP (Did Not Play-Coach's Decision) for the third straight time as the Magic absorbed their third loss in as many games. Sotto was also benched in Orlando's first two losses to the Indiana Pacers and Detroit Pistons.
Forward Jett Howard tied things up at 80-all in the final stretch of the extra period but Knicks guard Jaylen Martin buried the last floater as New York escaped the thriller.
Charlie Brown Jr. led the Knicks with 19 points and six rebounds while Martin finished with 12 markers, three assists, two rebounds, two blocks, and a steal.
Orlando, meanwhile, leaned on Howard, who listed 22 points while Quinndary Weatherspoon chipped in 17 in the loss.
They will next face the Portland Trail Blazers on Friday.
