Gilas Girls rout Hong Kong by 39 to kick off FIBA Asia U16 Division B campaign

Gilas Pilipinas Girls torched Hong Kong by 39 in a resounding 79-40 victory to kick off their 2023 FIBA U16 Women's Asian Championship Division B campaign in Amman, Jordan on Monday night (Manila time).

Ava Fajardo, the younger sister of Gilas Women guard Ella Fajardo, led the squad with 17 points in 16 minutes of action while also grabbing six rebounds, three assists, and four steals.

Ryan Kelly Nair chipped in 12 markers while Alyssia Rylee Palma and Isabella Rose De Jesus chipped in 10 and eight points as Gilas Girls outclassed Hong Kong.

The Patrick Aquino-mentored team currently leads Group A with a 1-0 card and will next face Maldives later tonight.

They will need to finish within the top two of the group to advance to the knockout semifinals slated on July 15.
