Swimmers Angel Otom, Ariel Alegarbes deliver pair of golds in ASEAN Para Games

Filipino para swimmers Angel Otom and Ariel Alegarbes snared a pair of gold medals for the country as they ruled their respective events on Tuesday in the 2023 ASEAN Para Games in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.

Otom finished at the top spot of the women's 200 meter individual medley SM5 after clocking in the best time of four minutes and 43.60 seconds. Vietnamese bets Nguyen Thi Sari and Danh Thi My Thanh claimed the silver and bronze.

Meanwhile, Alegarbes dominated the men's 200m individual medley SM14 after finishing the race in two minutes and 18.19 seconds. Malaysians Muhammad Imaan Aiman and Ethan Khoo Yin Jun settled for silver and bronze.

Alegarbes earlier notched a silver medal in men's 100m butterfly S14 while he already won a gold on Monday in the 50m butterfly S14.
