Brondial registers double-double as San Miguel downs NorthPort

Rodney Brondial registered a double-double as the San Miguel Beermen downed NorthPort Batang Pier, 87-75, on Saturday in the PBA On Tour at the Caloocan Sports Complex.

Brondial posted 18 points and 21 rebounds in the Beermen's first win in the preseason tournament.

The Beermen relied on a strong start as it limited the Batang Pier to just six points against their 19-point output in the first period. It was all SMB from there as they led by as much as 24 points, 30-6, at the 8:08 mark of the second quarter.

Jericho Cruz had 22 points while Terrence Romeo and Mo Tautuaa had 14 and 11 points, respectively as the Beermen improved to 1-1.

Paul Zamar had 20 points, while MJ Ayaay had 18 points and eight rebounds. JM Calma posted 14 points and 13 rebounds in NorthPort's second loss in as many games.

PBA On Tour action returns on Sunday as Magnolia takes on Blackwater at 5 p.m., while Meralco faces Phoenix at 7:30 p.m. at the Ynares Center in Pasig.
