Letran trounces Arellano, Mapua downs Benilde in Filoil preseason tilt

Colegio de San Juan de Letran and Mapua University notched wins on Saturday in the Filoil EcoOil Preseason Cup in San Juan.

Letran trounced Arellano University, 83-77, with Nicko Fajardo listing 28 points and Kobe Monje posting 23 points for the Knights' third win in four games.

Jude Bagay and Lars Sunga had 16 and 15 points, respectively as the Chiefs dropped their second in as many games in the tournament.

Earlier, Mapua University took down De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde, 95-78, with Warren Bonifiacio registering 20 points, seven rebounds, and five assists. Clint Escamis had 18 points while Toby Agustin had 15 points as the Cardinals improved to 3-1.

Prince Carlos had 17 points while Migs Oczon and Miggy Corteza had 10 points apiece in the Blazers' loss which brought them down to 3-2.

In other matches, St. Clare College of Caloocan eked out a 55-54 win over Far Eastern University, while De La Salle University defeated University of the Philippines, 90-83.

Filoil action will return on Sunday as the University of Perpetual Help System DALTA face Jose Rizal University and the Cardinals take on Emilio Aguinaldo Colelge, while Centro Escolar University and Adamson University face off in the afternoon, followed by La Salle's game against University of the East.
