Reinhard Jumamoy commits to NU for college
UAAP high school basketball star Reinhard Jumamoy will stay with the National University basketball program.
The blue-chip recruit revealed that he will move up to play for the Bulldogs on Friday after wrapping their campaign in the UAAP Season 85 high school boys basketball tournament.
“NU po ang nagbigay ng pagkakataon sa akin, kaya sa NU ko po gusto magpatuloy maglaro. Tiwala po ako sa kanilang dadalhin pa rin nila ako sa tama," said Jumamoy.
(NU is the one that gave me the opportunity, so I want to continue to play for NU. I trust in where they will take me.")
Bulldogs head coach Jeff Napa is happy with the youngster’s commitment to the Jhocson-based squad.
"We are very happy and thankful kay Reinhard and sa family niya for choosing to stay sa NU program. Malaking bagay ‘yung ganito para sa NU, kasi ito yung pagpapatuloy namin sa kagustuhan naming maging isa sa 'big boys,'" said Napa, referring to other powerhouse basketball programs in the UAAP.
("We are very happy and thankful to Reinhard and his family for choosing to stay in the NU program. This will be big for NU, because it will help our goal to become one of the 'big boys.'")
In his final playing year for the NU Nazareth School, Jumamoy posted averages of 18.1 points, 9.7 rebounds, 6.9 assists, and 2.8 steals, while also having three triple-doubles to steer the Bullpups to a Final Four appearance. However, the defending champs were dethroned by Far Eastern University-Diliman.
Jumamoy will join NU holdovers Jake Figueroa, Kean Baclaan, Steve Nash Enriquez, and fellow commit LA Casinillo. The Bulldogs ended their Season 85 campaign in the Final Four with a 9-5 record.
