Danny Ildefonso makes PBA comeback to play for Converge
A legend is making a comeback.
PBA icon Danny Ildefonso is returning to the league as he is set to play for Converge, where he is already serving as one of the FiberXers' assistant coaches in the ongoing 2023 PBA Governors’ Cup.
Converge head coach Aldin Ayo confirmed the development following a social media post from him regarding Ildefonso's appointment.
Ildefonso is an eight-time PBA champion and a two-time Most Valuable Player with his old team San Miguel, who picked him first overall during the 1998 Rookie Draft.
Ildefonso last played in the PBA in 2015, suiting up for the Meralco Bolts.
With his return, Ildefonso could get the chance of playing opposite his eldest son, Shaun, who is currently playing for the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters.
According to the memorandum posted by Ayo, Ildefonso can see action as soon as possible, making him eligible to play right away on Friday when Converge goes up against the Bolts.
