Phoenix makes it three wins in a row after escape of Rain or Shine

Phoenix Super LPG picked up its third straight win after holding off a comeback attempt from Rain or Shine, 114-106, in the 2023 PBA Governors' Cup on Wednesday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Phoenix, which was coming off twin victories against Converge and Terrafirma, improved to 4-5 while sending Rain or Shine to its third straight loss to drop to 2-7.

Phoenix led by as many as 23 points late in the second period with Tyler Tio sinking a jumper, 58-35, before they ended the half holding on to a 67-46 advantage.

But the Elasto Painters outscored Phoenix in the third, 30 to 22, to cut their deficit to just 13 before heading to the fourth frame, 76-89. A Norbert Torres triple further trimmed Rain or Shine's deficit to just seven, 101-108, with 2:46 left in the game.

RR Garcia and Encho Serrano came off the bench with 17 points each to lead Phoenix while Du'vaughn Maxwell poured in 15 markers and 13 rebounds alongside four assists, five blocks, and five steals.

Jason Perkins was also on point, finishing with 16 points and five boards.
