St. Jude sweeps Xavier for PCYAA Invitational crown


St. Jude Catholic School swept Xavier School in the best-of-three finals of the Philippine Ching Yuen Athletic Association (PCYAA) 10th Anniversary Invitational Basketball after a 70-63 win in Game Two on Tuesday at the Uno High School Gym.

The Green Knights mounted a comeback after being down 11 points in the third period and staged a 14-2 run to take a 46-45 lead.

As momentum shifted to the Green Knights' side, St. Jude held the Stallions to just 11 points in the final frame to eventually take the crown.

Kobe Chong posted 29 points, 11 rebounds, six assists, and five steals in St. Jude's fourth PCYAA crown and the first under coach Homer So. Ethan Kaw scored 18 points, while Keith Ngu had 12 points in the Green Knights' win.

Brent Tiu led the Stallions with 17 points, while Andre Tan had 14 points, on top of his 10 rebounds.

In Game One, St. Jude won 84-62.
