TNT ekes out win against San Miguel behind Calvin Oftana game-winner


Calvin Oftana sealed the deal for TNT as the Tropang Giga squeaked past the San Miguel Beermen, 105-103, on Sunday in the 2023 PBA Governors' Cup at the Philsports Arena.

As SMB import Cameron Clark completed a three-point play with 13 ticks left, TNT import Rondae Hollis-Jefferson was the first to attempt to deliver the game-winner for TNT but missed, but Oftana was there to score a putback for the victory.

Jayson Castro led TNT with 21 points alongside five boards and eight assists while Hollis-Jefferson registered 19 points, 14 rebounds, and seven assists. Kelly Williams had 16 points, while Oftana posted 14 points, 10 rebounds, and six assists. Mikey Williams alsowound up the double digit scorers for TNT with 11 points.

Clark had 30 points and 11 rebounds, while CJ Perez had 25 points. June Mar Fajardo had 12 markers and 13 boards, while Jericho Cruz chipped in 10 points.

The win also spoiled Fajardo's career night as he made his 2,000th offensive rebound since joining the league in 2012.

TNT (8-1) will have a short break as it gives way for the upcoming FIBA window and will be back in action on March 15 against NorthPort Batang Pier. SMB (7-2) will also return on the same day and face the NLEX Road Warriors.
