Jorge Gallent after San Miguel's first loss in Govs' Cup: 'We just have to go up'

For San Miguel Beermen head coach Jorge Gallent, absorbing their first loss in the 2023 PBA Governors' Cup should be a learning experience.

San Miguel fell to the Converge FiberXers, 107-103, on Saturday.

"We just have to learn from the mistakes in the end," Gallent said. "Breaks of the game plus we have to learn how to defend better."

Among their troubles was losing big man June Mar Fajardo due to his fouling out with less than three minutes left to play in the fourth period.

"It is what it is. June Mar fouled out, he got his sixth [foul] in 3 minutes," said the SMB tactician. "We just have to learn how not to foul," he added.

Despite the loss, Gallent said there is a lot of time for the Beermen to make up for it.

"Sayang pero there's still four or five more games, so we just have to bounce back from this loss," said Gallent.

"We're still number one, We're tied for number one. We just have to go up."

"We're not focused in the quarters. We're more focused on winning games so it's more important for us."

San Miguel, Converge, and TNT all have five wins and a loss behind Barangay Ginebra's 3-0 card.
