Three PBA ticket scalpers arrested ahead of crucial Game 6 finals match
The Quezon City Police District arrested three scalpers who were caught selling overpriced tickets for the crucial Game 6 of the 2022 PBA Commissioner's Cup Finals.
According to a police report, the QCPD, along with the operatives of District Special Operations Unit, Quezon City Hall Detachment, and Quezon City-Anti-Cyber Crime Team conducted an entrapment operation on Wednesday afternoon at Gateway, Cubao, Quezon City after the PBA sought assistance about scalping of tickets online.
In the entrapment operation, suspects identified as Kenneth Peji (21 years old), John Limuel Dela Cruz, (20 years old); and a 17-year-old male were arrested.
An undercover operative posed as a buyer and purchased 13 tickets for P13,000 after the QC-DACT conducted cyber patrolling and was able to transact with the suspects.
A total of 50 tickets worth P11,500 were seized from the suspects during the operation.
The QCPD said the suspects were issued Ordinance Violation Receipts with fines amounting to P 5,000.00.
Quezon City has an Anti-Scalping Ordinance which defines scalping as "Unlawful selling/or buying of admission tickets outside the authorized official booth, outlet, or place designated for the purpose."
QCPD director PBGEN Nicolas D Torre III called on the public to refrain from patronizing scalpers and reporting them to be charged accordingly.
Barangay Ginebra leads the best-of-seven finals series against the Bay Area Dragons, 3-2.
As of writing, Game 6 of the finals is ongoing with the Dragons leading Ginebra, 25-20, at the end of the first period.
