Dave Ildefonso says move to Korea will make him, Philippine basketball better

As Dave Ildefonso's move to the Korean Basketball League was formalized on Sunday, the former Ateneo de Manila University stalwart said it was a move that will not just benefit him, but also the local basketball community.

Ildefonso became the latest Filipino import in the KBL as he joined the Suwon KT Sonicboom.

"I believe that my stint in Korea will not only benefit me but will give my family pride," Ildefonso wrote in a post on Monday.

"It will be great for both our national basketball program and our professional league for young guys like me to experience first-hand the basketball culture of other countries, and eventually share that knowledge back home," he added.

"It will be great for basketball fans too, they can watch as we try to prove we can play with the best in our continent."

The collegiate star shared that when the opportunity to play in Korea was opened, he felt overwhelmed and had a feeling of 'healthy fear.'

"It is the kind of fear that, when you overcome it, will make you better & stronger."

Ildefonso follows the likes of other former collegiate standouts Rhenz Abando, RJ Abarrientos, SJ Belangel, and Justin Gutang in the Korean league.
