Clutch Kobey Lam stars late as Bay Area stuns SMB in semis opener
Kobey Lam nailed the game-winning basket to steer top seed Bay Area to a 103-102 comeback victory over San Miguel in Game 1 of their best-of-five semifinals of the 2022 PBA Commissioner's Cup on Wednesday at the PhilSports Arena.
Lam drove to the basket with seven seconds left in the game clock to give the Dragons a one-point advantage before SMB import Devon Scott missed a potential game-winner as Bay Area completed a come-from-behind win.
Bay Area trailed by as many as 16 points late in the third quarter before they outscored the defending champions in the fourth, 25 to 13, en route to the victory,
Andrew Nicholson led Bay Area with a double-double of 30 points, 15 rebounds, three assists, and two blocks while Songwei Zhu chipped in 19 markers, seven dimes, and a board to help Bay Area get a 1-0 series advantage.
CJ Perez paced the Beermen with 24 points, seven rebounds, and two assists while Terrence Romeo chimed in with 21 markers off the bench alongside four boards.
Game Two of the series will be on Friday, December 16, at the same venue.
