Platinum Karaoke downs Cavitex to cop breakthrough 3x3 title
Platinum Karaoke pulled off a 13-12 squeaker over Cavitex to claim its first-ever title in the Leg 4 finals of the second season's second conference of PBA 3x3 on Sunday at the Robinsons Place in Malabon.
Terrence Tumalip led Platinum with six points, including a crucial basket that made it a 13-10 spread for his side with 52 seconds left before Brandon Bates denied Jorey Napoles for a potential game-winning bucket.
Bates chipped in four markers while Nico Salva chimed in with three and Yutien Andrada made his presence felt on defense with five rebounds and five blocks.
“So proud of this team. It’s been a long time coming,” said head coach Anton Altamirano. “Ang tagal naming hinintay ito. It’s God’s will.”
Platinum took home P100,000 in cash prize while Cavitex bagged P50,000 after a second straight runner up finish in the Second Conference Season 2.
En route to the title, Platinum had to hurdle multi-titled TNT in the quarterfinals, 13-12, while it also outlasted J&T Express in the semifinals with a 15-13 triumph.
