Will Navarro posts 29-17-9 in career game, propels NorthPort past Converge


Will Navarro was one assist away from a triple-double as the NorthPort Batang Pier snapped the Converge FiberXer's seven-game winning streak, 112-97, on Sunday in the 2022 PBA Commissioner's Cup at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Navarro led three NorthPort players who registered double-doubles in the team's third straight win. He posted 29 points, 17 rebounds, and nine assists in a huge performance.

Robert Bolick tallied 26 markers, 10 dimes, and six boards while import Prince Ibeh made 19 points and 15 rebounds.

NorthPort had control early in the game as they outscored Converge, 28-18, to end the first period. The Batang Pier eventually pulled away in the second half as they led by 19 points, 88-69, at the 1:44 mark of the said frame before ending the period at 88-73. It was enough to give NorthPort the advantage heading into their sixth win in 11 games.

Converge's Aljun Melecio had 20 points, 8 assists, and 2 rebounds, while Jeron Teng and Maverick Ahanmisi had 14 and 11 points respectively as Quincy Miller did not play in the game.

Both NorthPort and Converge will have Barangay Ginebra as their next opponent, with the Batang Pier facing them on November 27 and the FiberXers taking on them three days after.
