Converge erases 17-point deficit to take win from Rain or Shine
The Converge FiberXers erased a double-digit deficit to steal the win from the Rain or Shine Elastopainters, 102-101, on Sunday in the 2022 PBA Commissioner's Cup at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Early in the fourth period, the FiberXers were trailing by 17 before they mounted a late rally and cut their deficit to one, 99-98, with 1:03 left in the fourth period. Elastopainters import Ryan Pearson scored with less than a minute left to extend their lead to three, before Quincy Miller and Justin Arana scored back-to-back baskets to take the win.
Jeron Teng led Converge with 20 points, while Miller posted 19 points and 20 boards to notch their seventh straight win and improve to 8-2. Pearson, on the other hand, tallied 25 points and 10 rebounds, while Gian Mamuyac led the locals with 24 points in the Rain or Shine loss which put them down to 4-6.
With the win, Converge also officially clinched a quarterfinals berth.
Converge will be back in action on Sunday against NorthPort, while Rain or Shine will try to bounce back against Blackwater on November 25.
