Wesson leads way as Phoenix holds off TNT to stretch streak to five

Kaleb Wesson registered an all-around outing as his Phoenix Super LPG team fended off TNT, 91-88, to extend its winning streak to five in the 2022 PBA Commissioner's Cup on Sunday.

The 23-year-old American import tied things up at 88-all with 2:19 left in the payoff period before TNT's Jayson Castro committed two fouls in a row, allowing young gunners Encho Serrano and Tyler Tio to sink a combined three free throws for a 91-88 lead.

TNT reinforcement Cameron Oliver had the chance to force an overtime but he missed out on his last-gasp triple over the defense of Simon Camacho with 2.6 ticks left.

Wesson finished with 23 points, 17 rebounds, three assists, four steals, and three blocks while Serrano collected 16 markers, three boards, and three dimes as Phoenix improved to 5-3.

TNT, on the other hand, fell to 3-4 behind a two-game losing slide.

With the absence of Mikey Williams, Calvin Oftana stepped up for the Tropang Giga, listing 27 points on 7-of-12 from the clip to go along with two rebounds and a steal.

Oliver chimed in with 20 markers, 10 boards, five dimes, and three blocks while RR Pogoy chipped in 22 points.
