Alec Stockton drops new career-high as Converge escapes Blackwater for fourth straight win
Sophomore guard Alec Stockton dropped a new career-high to tow the streaking Converge FiberXers to a 77-71 win over Blackwater in the 2022 PBA Commissioner's Cup on Sunday at the Ynares Centre in Antipolo City.
The former FEU standout lit up off the bench with 15 points and eight rebounds in 22 minutes of action to help Converge book its fourth straight win to improve to 5-2.
Blackwater, meanwhile, absorbed its second loss in a row to drop to 3-5.
Tied at 64, Stockton knocked down six points as part of the FiberXers' 11-4 run in the fourth period to bring his side to a much-needed 75-68 cushion with 1:05 left to play.
Import Quincy Miller then went for a layup before Rey Suerte countered with a long bomb for the Bossing, 77-71, in the final 44 seconds, but Converge held on to complete the victory.
Converge has now become one of the hottest teams in the league, cruising to its fourth win in a row after pulling off upsets over powerhouse teams TNT, San Miguel, and Meralco.
Miller finished with a double-double effort of 22 points, 19 rebounds, four blocks, and two steals while Abu Tratter also flaunted a double-double outing of 12 markers and 10 boards.
