Akari, Cherry Tiggo rout Army, Cignal in import-laced PVL tourney

Debuting team Akari posted its first franchise win in the 2022 PVL Open Conference after eking out a 25-20, 25-22, 25-22 sweep win over United Auctioneers Inc. Army on Saturday.

Reinforcement Prisilla Rivera took up the scoring cudgels with her 25 points built on all attacks while Janine Marciano chipped in 10 markers.

Erika Raagas added nine points while Dani Ravena made her presence felt on the defense with 15 digs and eight receptions.

Meanwhile, Cherry Tiggo pulled off a shocker over Cignal with a 25-23, 20-25, 25-21, 25-20, mastery to go undefeated in two games.

Lefty Mylene Paat led the Crossovers with 19 points as Cza Carandang and EJ Laure chipped in 14 and 11 markers apiece.

With the loss, Cignal, a contender in the past conferences, dropped to a winless 0-2 slate.
