NU Lady Bulldogs make history with 100th straight win
The longest winning streak in Philippine basketball continues as the National University Lady Bulldogs made history on Wednesday after winning their 100th straight game in the UAAP on Wednesday at the University of Santo Tomas Quadricentennial Pavilion.
NU defeated the University of the Philippines, 79-44, for their historic feat.
Mikka Cacho topped NU in scoring with 15 points while Marylene Solis and Princess Fabruada chipped in 9 and 8 points each.
Maw Acrissa tallied 12 points for the Diliman-based squad.
The Lady Bulldogs last lost in the UAAP back in October 5, 2013, a week and almost a decade ago to the date.
For head coach Aris Dimaunahan, the 100th win was a tribute to those who started UAAP's longest streak, especially to coach Pat Aquino who was the architect of NU women's basketball supremacy.
“I know you will all agree with me that he’s the best women’s basketball coach in the country [and] this win is for him.”
Prior to the return of women's basketball for Season 85, the Lady Bulldogs won 96 straight games to take their sixth straight title.
NU, just this season, defeated UE (131-47), Ateneo (89-52), and UST (78-75).
