Petro Gazz, Chery Tiggo score sweeps of Choco Mucho, F2

Petro Gazz opened its title defense bid with a convincing sweep victory over Choco Mucho, 27-25, 25-22, 28-26, in the 2022 PVL Reinforced Conference on Tuesday at the PhilSports Arena.

The Angels were led by import Lindsey Vander Wiede who produced 25 points built on 20 attacks, three blocks, and two aces while Jonah Sabete starred for the locals after listing 14 points to go along with 14 digs and 11 excellent receptions.

The win allowed Petro Gazz to jumpstart its campaign to defend their title three years after ruling the 2019 edition of the import-laced tournament.

Meanwhile, Chery Tiggo also scored a sweep win after thrashing an undermanned F2 Logistics side, 25-23, 25-21, 25-22, behind the tandem of Mylene Paat and EJ Laure.

The lefty opposite spiker churned out a team-high 16 points while Laure contributed 11 in the victory as their reinforcement in Jelena Cvijovic made her presence felt on the defensive end with seven digs and 10 receptions to go along with six markers.

F2, who played sans American import Lindsay Stalzer and veteran libero Dawn Macandili, was led by the returning Kalei Mau, who listed 20 points in the loss anchored on 17 attacks and three aces.
