Brownlee leads way as Ginebra bounces back, deals rival Meralco back-to-back losses

Justin Brownlee starred as Barangay Ginebra finally got back to its winning ways after gutting out a 99-91 victory over rival Meralco in the 2022 PBA Commissioner's Cup on Sunday at the Araneta Coliseum.

The veteran import dropped 34 points, five rebounds, four assists, and two steals as the Gin Kings recovered from a 93-71 tough loss to Rain or Shine last Wednesday to improve to a 1-1 slate.

Meralco, meanwhile, dropped to a 0-2 win-loss card.

Scottie Thompson also showed the way for Ginebra with his all-around performance of 15 points, nine rebounds, nine assists, and three steals while Stanley Pringle chipped in 16 markers, four boards, and a steal.

Meralco import Johnny O'Bryant took the scoring cudgels for the Bolts, finishing with a team-high 31 points, 16 rebounds, four assists, one steal, and a block. Allen Maliksi chimed in with 20 but those weren't enough as Meralco suffered back-to-back losses.

Meralco previously lost to NorthPort on Friday, 101-95.
