Dwight Ramos gives advice to hoopers planning to go abroad: 'Do what makes you happy'
Ahead of the upcoming Japan B.League season, Dwight Ramos gave advice to Filipino players planning to make the big leap and play overseas.
In a press conference on Thursday, Ramos said deciding on where to play basketball is a case to case basis.
"A lot of people are in different circumstances, but if you feel that you want to take that jump and play outside the Philippines, then do it," he said
"If you want to play in the Philippines and be with your family, then do that. It's your choice," he added. "That's my advice: Do what makes you happy."
Ramos, who also plays for the national team, said his recent stint with Gilas Pilipinas was a big help in his training during the offseason.
"It became a chance to keep playing, keep improving, even during the offseason so I think it helped me in playing in those games and it helped prepare me for this coming season."
During the fourth window of the FIBA World Cup Asian Qualifiers, Ramos averaged 13.5 points and eight rebounds for the national team.
Ramos is in his second season in the Japanese league and will suit up for Levanga Hokkaido.
"I think for this team to succeed, he's got to be a very integral part of this team and at the same time, we would like to provide him the environment to succeed," said general manager Takahiko Kiyonaga.
The B.League will open on September 29.
