Matthew Wright bids goodbye to Phoenix: 'It has been an unforgettable 6 years'

As Matthew Wright's contract with the Phoenix Fuelmasters comes to a close, the hot-shooting guard thanked everyone who has been a part of his journey in the team.

"It has been an unforgettable 6 years with the Fuelmasters," Wright wrote in the caption of a social media post.

"Thank you to all my coaches, teammates, ball boys and bosses for being a part of this chapter in my life. Most importantly thank you to all the fans who have supported me through thick and thin. I love you all."

In a statement, the Fuelmasters said they are saddened with Wright's departure, but wished him well in his future endeavors.

"The team is saddened to see its longest tenured player go but at the same time grateful for all the blood, sweat, and tears he put into this franchise," the team said.

"As applicable to any player of the team, we shall abide [by] the existing policies of the PBA with regard to players opting to play abroad," it added.

Wright's contract will end this month, although he has made no announcements yet on his next career plans.

Wright was selected by the Fuelmasters in a special Gilas round of the PBA draft in 2016. He last played for the Fuelmasters back in July 16 when they played the Converge Fiberxers in an 89-66 win.

He recently got married to long-time partner Gabriela in the United States.
