Gilas Pilipinas deals 64-point beatdown vs Syria to open FIBA U18 Asian Championship campaign
The Gilas Pilipinas Under-18 team opened their FIBA U18 Asian Championship campaign with a 64-point beatdown of Syria, 112-48, on Sunday in Iran.
It was a dominant win for the young Gilas squad as they limited Syria to less than 10 points each in the first three quarters. It was already too late for Syria despite making 24 points in the final frame against the Philippines' 25.
Mason Amos, who just turned 18, led Gilas with 26 points, while Seven Gagate flirted with a double-double after a 19-point, nine-rebound performance.
Earl Jared Abadam also had 19 points while Kristian Michael Porter had 13 boards on top of his eight-point output.
George Kastntin led Syria with 12 points, the only player for Syria to score in double digits.
The Philippines will return to action on Monday when the play Qatar.
