Kean Baclaan flirts with triple-double as UST takes down San Beda in 2OT; Lyceum clinches QF spot

Kean Baclaan was crucial for the University of Santo Tomas as the Tigers took down San Beda University, 96-91, in double overtime in the Filoil EcoOil Preseason tournament on Monday in San Juan.

Baclaan registered 22 points, nine rebounds, and nine assists in the game which improved their record to 2-4.

UST charged early in the second overtime as they made a 7-0 run after being tied at 83.

Down by just five points late in the game, Justine Sanchez made a layup which cut their deficit to just a single possession with 38 seconds left. However, it was Sherwin Concepcion who sealed the deal for the Tigers.

Baclaan had two triples in the game, one of which forced the game into the second overtime. A Nic Cabañero triple, meanwhile, put the game into the first extra period, 78-all.

Cabañero had 26 points, seven rebounds, and two assists in the game, while Concepcion had 15 points, eight rebounds, and three assists.

JB Bahio had a statline of 21 points, 11 rebounds, and four assists while James Kwekuteye had 14 markers and eight boards. Sanchez also tallied 14 points.

Meanwhile, Lyceum of the Philippines University booked a slot in the Filoil quarterfinals after taking down San Sebastian, 75-64.

Renzo Navarro led the Pirates with 13 points, while Maverick Vinoya tallied 12 markers in the win which improved LPU's standings to 5-2.

Filoil action will return on Wednesday.
