EJ Obiena finishes third in Silesia Diamond League

Filipino Olympian and pole vaulter EJ Obiena finished third in the Silesia leg of the Wanda Diamond League on Saturday (Poland time).

Obiena cleared the 5.73-meter mark to finish third behind record holder Mondo Duplantis (6.10m) and Norwegian Sondre Guttormsen (5.73m).

While Obiena and Guttormsen cleared both 5.73m, the Norway bet cleared it in just one try, with Obiena successfully clearing it in two attempts. Both also attempted the 5.83m clearance but failed to do so.

The third place finish came weeks after he bagged the bronze in the World Athletics Championship and reset the Asian record at 5.94m.
