How does Benjie Paras act when watching Kobe and Andre play basketball?

Benjie Paras revealed that he stays lowkey when supporting his sons Andre and Kobe during their basketball games.

In an episode of "Surprise Guest With Pia Arcangel," the Tower of Power said he wants to avoid putting more pressure on his boys when they are playing.

"Hindi ako nagpapakita during their games, kay Andre and Kobe while playing, kasi ayaw ko nung pag dumating ka people will compare them to you," he said.

"Doon lang ako sa isang exit na nakatayo lang ako and every time na may timeout umaalis ako," he added.

("I make sure they don't see me while they're playing, because I don't like it when you arrive and people will compare them to you.")

Benjie said he makes up an excuse when they invite him to watch, but secretly shows up to the arena anyway.

"They will tell me na, 'Dad we have a game, are you going with us?' 'I have work, pero I'll try ha,' pero wala akong work nun," he said.

("They will tell me that, 'Dad we have a game, are you going with us?' 'I have work, but I'll try ha,' but I don't really have work.")

The PBA legend and comedian said he does not meddle too much in Kobe and Andre's games and simply plays the father he is by quietly supporting them.

He also tells the boys to listen to their coach instead of him, but he is always ready to train them skills-wise.

"Wala silang naririnig sa akin if they are playing good or playing bad," he  said. "For me kasi pinagalitan ka na ng coach e, that's enough, so nadaanan ko na 'yun."

("They don't hear from me if they are playing good or playing bad. For me,you already got scolded by the coach, that's enough, I've experienced that.")

Asked if they play pickup games together, Benjie said he is unable to due to his previous injuries. However, he spends some time with his sons by eating out and drinking when their schedules align.

Kobe is playing in the Japan B.League so they can only meet during his vacation time, while Andre is also busy with his showbiz career.

No matter how old they get, however, Benjie said he will always be there for his sons.

"Akala ko nga once na nag-mature 'yung mga anak ko like Andre and Kobe, ito na 'yung age na may mga trabaho na sila, that's it," he said. "Pero hindi pa pala. You need to guide them, mas kailangan nila ng guidance, lalo na sa decision-making."

("I thought once my children mature like Andre and Kobe, they are at the age when they already have work, that's it. But that's not the case. You need to guide them, they need your guidance even more, especially when it comes to decision-making")
