SJ Belangel says upcoming KBL stint an 'answered prayer'


For SJ Belangel, his upcoming stint in the Korean Basketball League (KBL) is an answered prayer.

In a chance interview with reporters during the launch of the adidas D.O.N. Issue #3 "Origin Story" on Friday which Belangel attended, the Ateneo player said he is excited and motivated to play in South Korea.

"I'm just blessed enough na na-answer 'yung prayers ko na I'll be playing internationally and blessed as well na may nakaka-notice ng Filipino basketball and young Filipino athletes," Belangel said.

Asked about what Ateneo head coach Tab Baldwin said about Belangel's decision, the Ateneo guard said he was supportive of the move.

"He wants the best for us. He supports us kahit saan man magpunta."

Belangel, who said he will wear the new adidas shoe line in the upcoming Gilas Pilipinas games, will forgo his final two playing years for the Ateneo Blue Eagles as the guard is set to play with the Daegu KOGAS Pegasus in the upcoming KBL season.
