Barangay Ginebra takes Game 2 to equalize finals series against Meralco
Barangay Ginebra survived Meralco, 99-93, in Game 2 of the PBA Governor's Cup finals series on Friday at the Mall of Asia Arena.
The Gin Kings relied on a huge 40-point rampage in the second quarter to end the first half with a 60-42 advantage. The lead further extended to 20, 69-49, early in the third period.
The Bolts cut their deficit to just three points with 2:20 left in the game, 94-91, but a dunk from Justin Brownlee off a steal from Chris Banchero at the 1:22 mark energized the Ginebra squad's late rally en route to the win.
Brownlee flirted on a triple-double with 36 points, 13 rebounds, and nine assists, while Scottie Thompson tallied 16 markers and 12 boards. Christian Standhardinger was also a crucial part of the Ginebra win as he posted 12 points and 11 rebounds.
Meralco import Tony Bishop listed 31 points and 13 rebounds, while Aaron Black chipped in 24 points.
