Meralco starts bid for back-to-back 3x3 titles with three early wins in Leg 5 opener

The Meralco Bolts 3x3 squad started their back-to-back title bid on the right foot after taking care of their assignments on the opening day of PBA 3x3 Second Conference Leg 5 on Saturday at the Araneta Coliseum.

The Bolts, who ruled Leg 4 against Limitless Appmasters last March 20, defeated Platinum Karaoke (21-19), Cavitex Braves (18-16), and NorthPort Batang Pier (21-13) for a clean 3-0 slate in Pool A.  

Meralco will still play Pioneer Pro Tibay on Sunday but it has already punched its quarterfinals ticket.

In Pool B, the Appmasters also swept two games against Sista Super Sealers (21-12) and Master Sardines Fishing Champs (21-15) for an early 2-0 card in their group.

Meanwhile, Purefoods TJ Titans are currently leading Pool C with a 2-0 record following victories against San Miguel Beermen (21-16) and TNT Tropang Giga (21-15).

Preliminary round continues on Sunday to be followed by the playoff round.
